Is Cannabis Legal in Maryland?

Image
Is Medical Cannabis  Legal  in Maryland? Short answer: Yes. Maryland legalized medical marijuana for patients with certain qualifying medical conditions and for those currently in hospice within the state. It is no wonder there is so much confusion on this topic for Maryland residents - the  medical marijuana program legislation  began in 2012, however, stalled out for more than 5 years of delays. It wasn't until December of 2017 that sales actually began. Compilation of Medical Cannabis Laws: Maryland Cannabis Laws Updated 09/21/2018 Final Medical Cannabis Regulations: To read the complete set of promulgated regulations, which became effective on September 14, 2015, go to the Division of State Documents website. The "M-word" Stigma: Marijuana is Bad, mmkay? "NO Cannabis" to "PRO-CANNABIS"

Image
source: pexels.com / open license Is the term "Marijuana" Bad? That is one helluva subjective question, right? Bad, to whom? For whom? what is the definition of "bad"? This rabbit hole can be endless, so let's just do the reasonable thing and learn the history. That usually drives us to a much more clear understanding. How information is presented determines how it will be received. But, who the hell am I to tell you what to say or do, right? I'm not speaking on this topic to talk down to anyone, but rather elevate the plant that many of us agree is incredible and beneficial. Cannabis has taken on a bad name since the early 1900s. "Marijuana" or "Marihuana" as some archaic laws still, to this day, have it titled, is a word laced with some nasty shit! I'm hoping to clear the air a little and share a quick snapshot of the past 120 years to give us all a bit of clarity on how the word "marijuana" came to be. Let...

It's High Time For Some #weedfacts - Vaporizing the Weed Stigma

Image
It is so rewarding to see the Cannabis movement is pushing forward and looking back on the tremendous progress is a gratifying feeling. The remarkable achievements that have been made in the advancement of Cannabis education is due to each and every person taking the time to assess and analyze evidence and fact. We have much to learn and we can learn together. The more we discuss it - the better we will understand cannabis and each other. I'd like to spotlight an initiative the WEEDMAPS , an App provider that locates the nearest dispensary, amongst other cool features. This is not at all a plug for them and I'm merely a happy user of their app. I am spotlighting them for another reason: they are spearheading an initiative to educate the public on Cannabis. Check this out: "Cannabis legalization is a hot topic across the nation. Weedmaps launched the Weedfacts billboard campaign to help dispel some of the myths around cannabis and foster real dialogue about cannab...

Vaporizing the Cannabis Stigma: Turning "NO Cannabis" to "PRO-CANNABIS"

Image
The Stigma is Real For decades, the world has witnessed the proverbial 'throwing under the bus' that cannabis has endured. Although we have seen so much reform and progress around the globe, there are still countries like Malaysia where possession or sales of cannabis can result in the death penalty. In Indonesia, cannabis can net you up to 20 years in prison. That says to me that we may have a long road ahead if we plan to erase the stigma that cannabis carries.  Even here in the U.S. cannabis is illegal in some places, legal recreational other places, legal medically elsewhere, and decriminialized many places (but not all). The lingering issue with legislating cannabis can be attributed to one simple problem: we don't know the truth because we have been lied to. This was the result of propaganda and misinformation, not to mention the suppression of information, fact, and evidence.  Nothing more than a stigma. One that should go up in smoke, once and for all. ...
